Preserving beauty: The ultimate care guide for fine fabrics and accessoires

The right care for fine fabrics and materials is essential to preserve their beauty and longevity. At Anse Victorin, we work with exquisite materials such as silk, linen and the finest cotton. Some of our creations are embellished with shimmering sequins, ornate embroidery or real ostrich feathers – handling these treasures with the right care is paramount! We want you to enjoy your Anse Victorin pieces and keep them beautiful for a long time! Please follow the care instructions on the products and adhere to the information on the labels.

Silk

Silk is a delicate fabric that requires special care. We recommend removing any jewellery before putting on or taking off the garment to avoid possible damage and storing it in a dry, well-ventilated room so the fabric can breathe. Incidentally, plastic and silk fabrics do not mix very well! We therefore recommend never storing silk items in plastic. Silk should be washed at a maximum of 30 degrees, whether by hand or in the machine. When machine washing, silk should never be spun. Always use a special silk detergent or natural products such as wine vinegar. Never dry silk in a tumble dryer or in direct sunlight! Silk should always be ironed inside out and not too hot.

Cotton

Cotton is a very robust and hard-wearing material. The general rule is: the higher the cotton content in the garment, the hotter it can be washed. Items made from 100% cotton can even be boil washed. However, we recommend washing cotton pieces at a maximum of 40 degrees, as lower temperatures are sufficient to clean the garments hygienically. Cotton is generally suitable for tumble drying.

Linen

Compared to silk, linen is robust and becomes more supple over the years. When storing linen, we recommend keeping it as flat and crease-free as possible. Be carfeful with your daily styling, especially when applying perfume or other scented products, to avoid possible discolouration. It’s best to apply fragrances and cremes well before putting on your clothes. To wash, separate linen garments from your other laundry and wash separately at a low temperature with a mild detergent. Make sure you sort your laundry by colour to avoid discolouration. Make sure you sort your laundry by colour to avoid discolouration. Linen should not be tumble dried and should be ironed on a medium heat while still damp to remove creases and smooth the fabric.

Sequins, embroidery, ostrich feathers

Garments with sequins, ostrich feathers, beads or other embellishments should never be machine washed or tumble dried. They should also not be ironed to prevent damage. Steaming, on the other hand, is an excellent way to keep garments looking fresh and fight bacteria at the same time. However, please take care when steaming garments: Do not hold the appliance too close to the fabric and steam from the inside out.

Viscose

Viscose should ideally be washed with a gentle machine wash programme, at a reduced spin speed and not hotter than 40 degrees. We recommend the use of mild liquid detergents, as washing powder can leave residues in the fibres. Viscose should not be tumble dried or dried on a radiator as this can cause the garments to shrink.

Jewellery

Our jewelry deserves just as much loving care as our clothes. The same rules apply here: avoid contact with fragrances, acetone, creams or water. Take your jewellery off before doing sports, swimming or showering to avoid putting unnecessary strain on it. A soft cloth is perfect for cleaning. Cleaning agents are usually not necessary. Store your jewellery in a dry, cool place.

Swimwear

Always rinse your swimwear thoroughly after use, especially after swimming in chlorinated water. Just as we protect our skin from excessive sun exposure, our swimwear should also be protected, so please avoid drying swimwear in direct sunlight. Wash your swimwear with a mild detergent at a medium, not too high temperature.
